Monthly recap (April 2026)
I've decided to live as a proud Asian man for all the George Harrisons that never had the chance.
Regular updates
Despite finally getting medication that lets me finish work on time, I'm still so tired that I haven't been doing anything. Having a life doesn't help either.

I think I'm quite the introvert after all. I want to go into hibernation forever.
Work-wise, I got a promotion.

When my manager asked me about a potential title change earlier, I joked that I didn't want to be an SEO Specialist because being a Writer sounds cooler. But I think they took that seriously because now my job title is going to be some shit like Writer and Digital Content Specialist.

On my own website I'm getting really pissed off for SEO reasons. I'll write more about this soon! I actually have a lot of original SEO thoughts to share that I can't post on the company website because there's no search volume for these questions.
I also want to start posting some of my shorter thoughts separately so that I don't end up with a backlog of 2000-word articles I never complete. But I'm still in quite the creative slump otherwise.
Estate Sale
Have to downsize so I'm selling a lot of anime merch (again). Mostly iDOLM@STER and Ace Attorney, but there's a bunch of other shit too so please check out the spreadsheet.

Art log

My 40-something year old Beatlesfan boss complimented my shitty Beatles cartoons on the whiteboard by posting it on the staff group chat. I was so embarrassed that I had to leave the office for a bit. Please look at my actually good Beatles fanart.

This month's scrapbook pages! I got some stickers and Canadian stamps from Dirchansky, used for the Beit.

Media log
- Lindsay Ellis - Did Yoko Ono break up The Beatles?
- Hail Project Mary: Fine for what it was, but I didn't realize it was a Ryan Gosling movie and went in expecting a three hour long sci-fi art film so I was sorely disappointed. Much to be CinemaSins about. My biggest gripe was that it dragged on too long. The film unironically should have ended on The Beatles song instead of showing the aftermath.
- Whiplash: Brilliant movie I never plan to watch again. It stressed me out terribly. I absolutely love toxic non-sexual relationships.
- Wings - Wild Life: Did not care for the surfer rock music. I like Tomorrow. I am Your Singer is cute.
- John Lennon, Yoko Ono - Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins: Not nearly as bad as I expected. I find it far less grating than Revolution 9, though it's also a lot less interesting.
- BTS - Arirang: K-pop is never beating the stealing from black musicians allegations. I liked Into the Sun. Very Beatles of them.
- NCT Wish - Full discography: Loved the Color EP! Very cute and J-poppy.
- Joey Valence & Brae - HYPERYOUTH Tour: HYPERYOUTH was an album I absolutely loved on first listen. I was really looking forward to attending a loud, active concert at the Powerstation again, but it just felt awkward an uncanny valley. It was a meta-album about letting loose at the club but due to the nature of pop concerts suffered from having a performative audience.
- Haunted Peak C1-5: Oh I am definitely the target audience for another manga about an autistic lonely guy who loves mountains. It's got very nice artwork, a mystery plotline, and bitchy relationship drama too, so fun fun.
- ONE, Kiyoto Shitara - Bug Ego C1-18: Extremely random sci-fi tied together by heart and comedy. Haven't seen it done so well since AI: The Somnium Files and this one goes even further. I adore how Yuki's story was presented.
- Nisioisin, Yuji Iwasaki - Cipher Academy C1-3: It's really modern except that it's a bizarro universe where not only do only women like code cracking but they're also insanely obsessed with it. The sidekick/mentor is a female cryptobro who bets on prediction markets. I'm pretty shocked they localized this at all because the riddles are kinda insane. Turns out the first translator quit!
- Wake Up Dead Man: Pretty decent, second favorite after the original Knives Out. Mystery felt very weak and predictable up until the actual reveal so I was surprised. However, the side character suspects were massively underdeveloped and that this definitely should have been an Evangelical/Protestant story rather than Catholic.
- ONE - Mob Psycho 100: SO FUCKING PEAK. It's very straightforward in its message and art and characters and it rules. I know I would have been blown away if I read this as a kid, but it still means so much to read it as an adult. Mob is the sweetest boy ever. I love how Reigen is such an adult character and yet so flawed and yet wants to do what's right when it matters. I loved how it ended with Mob
getting rejected but still staying happy anyway because he made so many friends. I like that the big catalyst for Mob befriending so many was him choosing to join the Body Improvement Club for himself. Everyone genuinely loves him because he's a good person who cares about others and it is a manga so full of love and genuine kindness. - Serial Experiments Lain E1-3: It's like if they turned OK Computer into an anime.
- H. G. Wells - The Door in the Wall
- Alex Chen - A Look Into NaviDial, Japan’s Legacy Phone Service
- Needy Streamer Overload E1-2: Definitely only for the fans but in a satisfying way, unlike many game adaptation or sequel attempts. The visuals capture Danganronpa better than the Danganronpa anime did (though I expect people to get sick of it soon). Feels a lot more hopeful for the game, but it's in line with how the game creator expresses his feelings on his blog.
- PinkPantheress - Illegal: Wait because I'm gagged now that I realize the actual meaning of this song.
- Sabrina Carpenter - Coachella Weekend 2: Just STUNNING! That is my princess. The Juno position bit into Madonna Vogue reveal was crazy.
- Idiocracy: Um, yeah well.
- Folding Ideas - Why was I invited to Beast Studios?: Beast Games the background video essay.
- Big Joel - Mr Beast Horked Up Another One: Beast Games the show the video essay.
- Mr. Beat, Folding Ideas - What the heck is MrBeast up to?: Beast Games the background video essay the livestream interview. I like both Mr. Beat and Folding Ideas to begin with, and it's rare to see two YouTubers who are typically in social/political agreement discuss something they don't agree with due to personal experiences. But I just realized I watched 3.5 straight hours of Mr. Beast commentary content so I may be the dumbass here.
- Folding Ideas - Beast Games 2 Strong/Smart: an Exhaustive Review: Dan Olson uploaded this after I wrote the last section so now I've spent 5 hours watching Beast Games critical content. I usually find it a waste of time to watch multiple critique videos about a particular subject, but this was different enough from Big Joel's video that it was worth it. Dan's very critical about Beast Games not portraying the truth of its rushed production, while Big Joel actively talks about how he likes that fact because it makes for better, cattier reality TV (though he agrees that the production shouldn't have been so fucked to begin with). I actually side with Big Joel more here! Like the Mr. Beat interview, it's just fun to see people who typically have similar beliefs present different views. I'm doing Beast Games video essay comparative analysis.
